Why do steam pipes often have a bend?

If this elbow is not required for layout (it may touch equipment, limited height or other pipelines), it is generally used for pipeline layout. This mechanism is presented in civil heating pipes, power plant steam pipes, and heat pipes in steel chemical plants.

This is achieved by the material of the pipe itself and its installation requirements.

On the one hand, the pipeline is divided into two states: working state and cold state. One is high in temperature and the other is approximately equal to the ambient temperature. The metal material has better thermal expansion and contraction characteristics. .

On the other hand, to ensure a certain stability of the pipeline, it is necessary to have a bracket and push it up. One of them is a so-called fixed bracket.

Steam pipes should use natural compensation (that is, only expansion bends without expansion joints) to eliminate the stress caused by pipeline expansion, and expansion joints at high temperatures are expensive and prone to damage over time. There is more than one way to eliminate stress caused by pipe expansion, but expansion bends are conventional and inexpensive.
